Winona is an old city full of history. It has one of the largest collections of Victorian commercial architecture in the area with more than 100 sites on the national Historical Register. Some call the city the "Stained Glass" capital of the nation. Five companies still produce stained glass windows. Its history as a river port and lumber center brought wealth and splendor to the city. From Garvin Heights Park 575 feet above the Mississippi River, one can see 50 miles of the river. The scenic drive to Winona along the Mississippi (both upstream and downstream) is a delight.
Along with a full schedule of classes and presentations, research opportunities in the genealogy room, and vendors offering a wide selection of Norse crafts and books, the stevne was packed with interesting things to do and see!
